In this video I review how to use folders in Firefox, and how to quickly add bookmarks to the bookmark toolbar and to folders. Folders are especially useful if you like to have multiple items in your bookmark toolbar, and are quite useful if there is a group of sites you like to check frequently at the same time. In this example I will show you how to create a folder that holds your Twitter, Facebook and Youtube pages. You can access the pages quickly via the folder you will create, but you can also open all three pages at once by clicking “Open All in Tabs” (see the completed folder example below).

Now on to the video…

One of the easiest and most important things you can do to help keep your computer secure is to make sure you have a current version of your web browser. Firefox is a great web browser and is very easy to upgrade.

1. Head to the top left menu (File, Edit, View…) and select
Help
. In the drop-down menu that appears, select “Check for Updates…” . Sometimes a few small updates will be completed, and sometimes a new full version will be installed. Also note that Firefox may need to restart itself, which is totally normal.

This simple technique will help keep your computer safer.

Web browsers such as Firefox and Internet Explorer try to save you browsing time by saving parts of the web pages you visit. By saving these files to what’s called the “cache” your browsing experience is sped up because certain features such as site navigation images don’t need to be loaded from the internet every time you visit a site.

Because of this time saving feature, you may not always see the most updated version of the website you are browsing. If you suspect that a site has been updated it but you are not seeing the updated version in your browser, simply use the browser’s refresh button to “reload” the site from what’s live on the site.

The pictures below show the location of the refresh button in Firefox and Internet Exporer 7. Note that the refresh button looks the same and is in the same location in Internet Explorer 8 as it is in Internet Explorer 8.
