Microsoft Word – How to Double Space

December 6, 2009DavidMicrosoft Office, Word3

Microsoft Word double spacing is a frequently used feature. Let’s learn how to  double space text in Word:

1. Highlight the text you want to double-space. Go to the Format menu and then select Paragraph.

2.  In the dialog box that appears, head to the bottom right portion where it says Line spacing and select Double (or any other spacing you’d like to set). Click OK.

3. View the results.

  • Or to do it real fast, click anywhere in the paragraph, hold down the Ctrl key and press the number 2.

    • Thanks for that tip. Is there a similar shortcut for single spacing and triple spacing – then again, does anyone triple space? 🙂

  • Single spacing is Ctrl+1 — same deal as double spacing. You hold down Ctrl and press 1. Ctrl+5 will give you space and a half in the paragraph. You don’t need to select the whole paragraph, just click anywhere in it.
