I was looking for a free anti-spam Akismet replacement plugin for WordPress and I came across Defensio. I run multiple WordPress blogs and I needed a reliable and accurate (and easy to use) anti-comment-spam plugin. I’ve been running Defensio for around a month now on a few sites and I must say that I’ve been extremely pleased. The amount of wordpress comment spam has dropped to practically a trickle (if that) and the false positive rate is very low. The setup of the plugin is easy, and you administer your profile from their website. On their website you will be able to add more sites, and also see your statistics. Their pricing is tiered — but their free plan is extremely generous and gives you a ton of leeway to grow your site. So I give a thumbs up to Defensio as an anti-spam plugin for wordpress. It’s easy to install, easy to configure, and most importantly…it works!
