Q: What is a Spam Firewall?
A; As its name suggests, a spam firewall is a dedicated firewall device that’s designed to protect your mail server from spam. In the same way that an email program on your desktop such as Outlook or Thunderbird can be configured with rules and guidelines for handling spam on that specific computer, a spam firewall provide a similar function for your email server.
Because a spam firewall is often a separate device on your network, it can be helpful in taking some of the workload off of an email server because it intercepts and processes spam before it reaches your mail server. Note that a spam firewall does not take the place of a good hardware (or software firewall) as spam firewalls only are designed to handle email traffic.
